Solvent-free stone impregnation – Water-repellent hydrophobic treatment for concrete, natural stone, clinker, brick, and more

AcroTec’s solvent-free stone impregnation is a high-performance, ready-to-use emulsion based on alkoxysilanes and silicone resins, specifically developed to provide long-lasting, invisible protection for mineral surfaces. It reliably repels moisture, frost, moss, green deposits, and penetrating salt solutions—without altering the surface’s natural appearance.

Thanks to its deep capillary action, the impregnation is ideal for concrete, sand-lime brick, natural stone surfaces, clinker and brick masonry, stone floors, patios, facades, and many other mineral substrates—both indoors and outdoors. Ready-to-use, odorless, and free of harmful vapors or aerosols. Perfect for both private and professional use.

Why our water-repellent treatment is ideal

This solvent-free stone impregnation provides highly effective, invisible protection and combines ease of use with professional-grade quality. The formulation, based on silanes and silicone resins, is 100% PFAS-free, odorless, and solvent-free—it penetrates deep into the material’s capillaries, significantly reduces water absorption, and achieves a pronounced beading effect (lotus effect), while largely preserving the material’s natural vapor permeability. Safe for people, pets, and gardens—with no restrictions on daily use.

Application of solvent-free stone impregnation

  • 1

    Prepare the Surface

Thoroughly clean the surface and allow it to dry completely. The surface must be free of oil, grease, dirt, moss, algae, salt efflorescence, and cleaning agent residues. Mask off or cover adjacent surfaces that are not to be treated (e.g., glass, painted surfaces) beforehand.

  • 2

    Applying the Waterproofing Agent

Shake or stir the product well before use until it is thoroughly mixed. Apply the ready-to-use product undiluted by spraying, brushing, rolling, or dipping. For large surfaces, we recommend using a pressure sprayer; for small surfaces, a roller, paintbrush, or brush is sufficient. Work in overlapping strokes from top to bottom. Immediately smooth out any puddles on horizontal surfaces with a flat brush.

  • 3

Allow to soak in & dry

Allow to dry for at least 5 hours. Protect outdoor surfaces from rain during this time. Do not apply at temperatures below +10 °C or above +30 °C, or on hot surfaces or in direct sunlight.

    Check for a Second Coat

For heavily used outdoor surfaces and indoor areas that come into regular contact with water (e.g., wet areas, stone floors), a second coat is recommended after the first coat has completely dried. You can check the effectiveness with a simple water test: Water should roll off easily.

    Important Notes

Test for material compatibility in an inconspicuous area first—some types of natural stone may experience slight color darkening. Not suitable for painted, sealed, or polished surfaces. Treated surfaces cannot be painted while the water-repellent treatment and beading effect are still active. Keep out of reach of children; store in a closed container in a cool place away from light (shelf life: up to 12 months). The impregnation should be repeated every 3–5 years.

FAQ

This waterproofing treatment is suitable for all porous, mineral-based surfaces: concrete, sand-lime brick, natural stone flooring, clinker and brick masonry, paving stones, sandstone, travertine, roof tiles, privacy screens, and facades—both indoors and outdoors. The treatment is most effective on any surface capable of absorbing water.

This impregnating treatment is not suitable for surfaces that have already been sealed, painted, or polished, as the product must penetrate the material’s open pores to be effective. Glass or metal surfaces should be masked off during application. With some types of natural stone, slight color darkening may occur—therefore, we always recommend testing compatibility on an inconspicuous area first. Please note: Treated surfaces cannot be painted afterward as long as the water-repellent effect is still active.

The product is ready to use—simply shake or stir well until thoroughly mixed, then apply undiluted. The surface must be clean, free of grease, and completely dry. For large areas, we recommend applying the product using a pressure sprayer; for small areas, a roller, paintbrush, or brush will suffice. Work in overlapping strokes from top to bottom, ensuring that no puddles form on horizontal surfaces. Allow to dry for at least 5 hours, protecting the surface from rain during this time. For heavily trafficked areas, we recommend a second coat after the first has completely dried. Do not apply at temperatures below +10 °C or above +30 °C, nor in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.

On average, 1 liter covers approximately 10–20 m². However, actual coverage depends heavily on the substrate: Highly absorbent materials, such as open-pored sandstone, require significantly more product. The application method also plays a role—spraying generally provides better coverage than rolling. For large areas, we strongly recommend determining the coverage in advance by testing on a sample area of at least 1–2 m².
